Advice for Road Runners: The Altra Women's Via Olympus Running Shoes are the most cushioned road running shoes in Altra's range. These shoes are designed with comfort in mind.
Underfoot Feel
The stack height of the midsole foam is 33 mm. This is substantial. You should notice a lot of Altra EGO™ MAX foam underneath your feet. While the midsole doesn't feel overly soft, it does offer a plush underfoot experience.
The rocker shape of the midsole plays a pivotal role when it comes to the Via Olympus' underfoot feel. It should really encourage propulsion and efficient movement through the gait cycle.
Upper Fit
Altra's Original FootShape™ Fit upper is the roomiest of their three upper shapes. This gives you plenty of space for natural movement. A great feature if you are running for a long time and/or your feet get warm while you run. The upper limits the chance of your feet feeling pinched or squeezed during your run.
Ideal Run Type
You've probably noticed by now that the Altra Women's Via Olympus Running Shoes has substantial cushioning. We recommend these shoes for slow to steady miles on the road.
Shoe size is a personal preference and everyone's feet are different, but we want to ensure you avoid any pain or discomfort from bruised toenails, rubbing, blistering or pins and needles.
Your running shoes should have enough width to allow you to spread your toes and should have some space at the front (we recommend having a half to one thumb's width of space from the end of your longest toe to the front of your running shoes).
This usually means that your running shoe will be at least a half size bigger than your regular shoe size though this can vary from brand to brand.
